Sangrash supports BGSBU students’ agitation

JAMMU, June 15: Expressing serious concern over the un-provoked police firing and lathi-charge on the students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) at Rajouri the other day, the president of ‘Sangarsh’ Mahesh Kaul in a press conference said that it speaks volumes about the administrative failure in the campus. He further said that the short sighted incident and act on the part of the University administration and police speaks volumes about the ignorance of handling the agitating students were merely asking to address the grievance of looking into the out of syllabus question paper and the transparency in the examination system”.
Kaul said the unprovoked firing on the agitating inside the campus and turning it into the battle field has sent shock waves across the scholars, students and the intelligentsia as the police firing inside the campus is totally the violation of the law in the absence3 of the magistrate beside the inhuman treatment meted out to the female students and the brutal thrashing given to the students has raised the tempers high among the scholar community. He further said that, “The fact finding team of Sangrash has already visited the BGSBU and accessed the situation on the ground. The situation is highly tense and tragic. There is wave of resentment amongst the student community for the irresponsible behavior of the administration and police personnel. Sangrash expresses total sympathy and support to the student community of the BGSBU and we urge upon the Chief Minister and the governor to intervene and look into the matter personally. Sangarsh demands the judicial inquiry into this gruesome act an s the law has been violated by the law and order enforces.” Among others present during press conference were Suresh Kumar, Ranjeet Sharma, Meenaksh Anand, K.D.Singh and Rahil who gave the eye witness account of the incident.
