EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 15: Not the one to lose time in reacting back, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and senior National Conference leader, T S Wazir today dared the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for proving the allegations vis-à-vis his involvement in favouring and shielding the culprits in Shaleen Gupta kidnapping and murder within four days.
The NC leader challenged that if the allegations are proved he would resign from the Legislative Council and if the PDP chief fails to prove what she said she should resign from State Legislative Assembly on moral grounds.
"The PDP chief has levelled false and baseless allegations against me and this is a part of PDP's malicious campaign against the National Conference. I openly challenge Mehbooba Mufti to either prove allegations regarding my involvement in shielding the accused of Shaleen Gupta murder or resign from state assembly," Wazir told reporters in a hurriedly press conference here this afternoon.
The NC leader denied categorically for making any telephone call to police officials for favouring and shielding the culprits in Shaleen Gupta murder case and descried the incident as "inhuman" and "barbaric act".
He also denied any link with the culprits involved in the murder of innocent Shaleen Gupta.
"If she fails to prove allegations against me within four days, she would have no right to stay in the state assembly and should resign from her MLA post on moral grounds," the NC leader dared.
Wazir alleged that the PDP was shedding "crocodile tears" just to take the political mileage over the barbaric murder of innocent child whereas the PDP, he added, is always known for misleading the people of state on regional lines.
He further asserted that no body can support this type of barbaric crime which a blot on the society.
