Early Times Report
Banihal, June 16: Lambasting Congress-National Conference regime for its failure to solve basic problems of masses, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regretted that instead of addressing woes of the common people this regime was more concerned about befooling people. Addressing one day function of the party cardholders at Banihal, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh said that NC led regime has deceived the people by making false promises. Residents of all regions of the state have been struggling to get basic amenities like drinking water, power and ration but the government seems to be non serious in solving these basic problems.
Exhorting the party workers to expose mis-deeds of this regime, Balbir Singh regretted that National Conference has not learnt any lessons from its past mistake. He pointed out that promises made by the National Conference during the assembly elections remained only on papers. "Instead of fulfilling the commitment which the NC had made with the people during assembly elections, this government has been deceiving the people by making false statements", he said and added that people were now comparing achievements of PDP led regime with present dispensation. People have realized that only a leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed can solve their all problems. He exhorted the party workers to launch a war against this worst ever corrupt and anti-people regime in the State. Speaking on the occasion Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Sartaz Madani said ""the state has been gripped with unprecedented crises due to non availability of ration in the government runs depots, scarcity of drinking water coupled with the unscheduled power curtailments".
He pointed out that achievements of this government were confined only on papers and on ground nothing concrete has been done. "The government seems to be more concerned about issuing press statements and conducting photo sessions to hoodwink the common masses", he said, adding, "failure of the State Government can be gauged from the fact that farmers, employees, technocrats, unemployed educated youth, students have been agitating in one way or other but the ruling elites seems to be unconcerned towards growing unrest among different sections of the society". MLC Sayed Asgar Ali regretted that this dispensation was repeating the same blunders which were committed by the previous National Conference from 1996 to October 2002. He recalled that in its three year PDP led regime not only restored peace in this region but also accelerate developmental activities in all three regions of State" . "From 2002 to 2005, neither scarcity of ration nor shortage of power or water emerged as bigger problems as has been erupted during the last 18 months in the State. With same infrastructure at his command, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has set an example of good governance and protected interests of the common masses and created an atmosphere of mutual trust and faith", he pointed out. Vice President Trilok Singh Bajwa, Hussain Ali Bafa, Abdul Ahad Wani, Farooq Mir, Bahar Ahmed Runiyal, Shoutak Daing, Abdul Aziz Katoch and others also addressed the convention.
