CJM issues production warrants against main accused | Chopra Murder case | | Jammu, JUNE-16 (JNF):- The police today sought production warrants against the main accused in much hyped murder case of Chopra family from Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu. The accused, Sangram Singhwas declared a proclaimed absconder and was recently arrested along with another accused. The CJM, P Bourney after hearing the Chief Procesuting Officer, Pawan Khaujuria and the investigating officer issued the production warrants. The warrants were forwarded to CJM Guna where the accused were arrested In the much publicized Chopra Family Murder case, the Special Investigating Team after more than three years investigation presented the challan on November 10, 2009. Two accused Virender Pradhi and Anil Wahi were arrested and released u/s 169 CrPC as they were not found involved in this case. In the challan 68 witnesses are mentioned whereas one accused namely Vicky son of Himmat Singh was made as approver in the case. Excise Magistrate Jammu committed the challan to the Court of Session with the direction to produce the accused in the Court of Sessions. The challan was presented against namely Mahesh, Rushi, Vicky, Nanju, Bhawani Singh, Siknader, Narinder and Dalip all are residents of District Goona MP. On September 18, 2006 at 10:30 PM an information was received from reliable sources of police station Trikuta Nagar Jammu that some unidentified persons after gaining entry in the residential house of Rajinder Bushan Chopra alias Raju Chopra with criminal intention at sector 3 Trikuta Nagar have brutally murdered him, his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Saloni Chopra, Servant Sonu and driver Jagan Nath, after their hands and legs were tied and mouths gagged. The dead-bodies were lying on the floor in the pool of blood. After committing the crime, the accused persons fled from the spot in a white Alto car No 0030/JK02AC, owned by chopra’s which was parked in the premises of house. On this FIR No 107/2006 u/s 302 RPC was registered and investigation was taken-up by then SHO Mohd Rafiq Manhas. According to a direction of the High Court passed on November 17, 2008 for the investigation of this case, SIT of 11 Gazetted officers headed by one IPS officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police and ably supported and assisted by many NGOs and other ranks was constituted by DGP J&K. the State cabinet referred this case to CBI for investigation, vide a notification September 25, 2006. The CBI refused to take over the case on the ground that the case was of local nature. The SIT examined about 150 suspects in the case and thereafter reached the conclusion that the murder of five persons was committed by a gang of criminal outside the state. It was also found that cash of Rs 56, 11, 384/- was looted. It was also mentioned in the challan that deceased Rajinder Bhushan Chopra was possessed a licensed pistol. During the investigation accused Vicky was taken to FSL Banglore for polygraph, brain mapping and NAT who confessed his involvement in the crime committed by the Gang of Sangram and also narrated whole the story of the murder. Upon this the investigation team arrested other accused in which Mahesh and Rushi were also put on Narco Analysis Test. The accused presently in the judicial custody were lodged in different places in the jail. In the challan it has been mentioned that accused Vicky wrote a letter to the CJM requesting him to record his statement. CJM referred this application to City Judge Jammu, upon this the accused recorded his statement before the Court of City Judge thereafter he was made approver in the case. In his statement Vicky stated that accused Sangram and others brought him to Jammu for theft case whereas Sangram asked him to stay on the gate of RB Chopra’s House and he further disclosed that he saw the murder of the daughter of Chopra but he has not committed murder of any one. In the challan it has been mentioned that a prayer has been made before the Court for the issuance of process u/s 512 CrPC against absconded accused. It may be recalled That Puneet Chopra son of RB Chopra has filed LPA for transfer of the present case to CBI which was still pending in the High Court. JNF |
