Work on upcoming projects in Jammu Inspected

JAMMU, June 17: The government will identify suitable plot of land to rehabilitate the residents and commercial establishments dislocated following the widening of Gujjar Nagar circular road.
The assurance was given to the affected people by Minister for Roads and Buildings, Mr G M Saroori while inspecting the pace of widening work, here today.
The Minister was on day long tour undertaken to inspect upcoming and completed works across Jammu city.
Later, the Minister issued formal directions to district Revenue functionaries at a meeting convened soon after the inspection.
The Minister asked the concerned to identify the land and submit the proposal for government's approval. He said the displaced families and commercial establishments are entitled to rehabilitation under the rules and any delay in this regard would put them to lot of difficulties.
He also ordered disbursement of compensation for the evicted structures along the road within one week's time.
Earlier, interacting with media persons, the Minister said that 400 Km roads have been blacktopped this season within the city and rural areas of Jammu district. He also listed various projects launched for expansion of road network in Jammu region, which included inter district, inter division and interstate roads. The Minister also inspected pace of work on prestigious 4th Tawi Bridge coming up at Baghwati Nagar, near Yatra Niwas.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the pace of work on Rs 68 crore 750 meter long bridge being constructed as a measure to easy rush of traffic on the existing bridges .
The Minister directed PWD and JKPCC to simultaneously expedite the work on the approach roads to ensure that the project is completed in stipulated time frame.
The Minister also inspected blacktopping work on interior roads of Sidhra Colony, Sawarn Bihar, Barnai and Bantalab and asked the executing agencies to ensure quality work besides completing the same in time. The Senior Engineers, of PWD and JKPCC accompanied the Minister during his tour.
