9000 Dhanore villagers crying for water | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, June 16: Residents of about 5 villages in Dhanore and Dhanidhar area of Rajouri on Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University road are suffering a lot due to non-availability of water. The residents of villages viz Dhanore Dhandian, Jaralan, Loharan, Goursian and Dhanidhar of are facing acute water shortage for about three decades. Locals said that even after repeated assurances by the administration they have not been provided water supply in the area. Interestingly the water filtration plant is installed by the department in between these five villages that supply water to whole Rajouri town having a population of 40 thousand people but from the plant the residents are not being supplied even a drop of water. The residents are suffering from this problem for the last 30 years. Presently for 9 thousand people, Public Health Engineering department has installed some hand pumps which too are non functional according to the villagers. "This pump is not sufficient for us and we are suffering badly due to non availability of water in the area", a resident Mohammad Din said adding that it is an irony that their village is supplying water to 40 thousand people and they remained thirsty. Though the residents have several times approached the PHE authorities for supplying water to the area but when the people get negative response from the department they felt it better to took to the streets and get justice by staging protest. BJP leader Vibodh Gupta , PDP leader Tazeem Dar, Tariq Sajad Youth Congress leader and Youth National Conference leader Syed Ahmed, District Youth President PDP Anjum Mirza have strongly expressed their anguish over the non availability of water supply in the area. These leaders have demanded immediate supply to the village.
