Dablehar vet dispensary, disdain to farmers
6/17/2010 11:54:40 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
R. S PURA, June17: Majority of population of Country and state lives in rural areas and depends on agriculture and animal rearing, state government is not doing sufficient to mitigate sufferings of farmers as required assistance and help is not provided to villagers. Being an agricultural state, produce of paddy and wheat crops are famous all over the world. Cattle rearing constitute an important source of income for farmers. But, tall claims of state government to provide every facility to farmers remains hollow claims as animal husbandry department has yet do a lot for beginning.
Village Dablehar of Tehsil R.S Pura in district Jammu having population of more than five thousand souls is one such example of government's apathy that people of Dablehar are completely dependent upon cattle rearing and farming but the condition of veterinary dispensary is awful. There are only two rooms in the hospital. The dispensary is even without water and electricity facilities. On the name of staff, there is only one doctor and one compounder to serve large population of animals in village and its surrounding areas.
Doctor Daya Ram said "we were facing a lot of problems, government was not taking seriously the problem of animal hospitals, many officers had visited their hospital but nothing concrete has been done with this regard so far". "This dispensary is good for nothing as there is no medicine facility and we are lacking behind due to highhandedness of higher authorities" cited prominent villagers. Due to deficiency of staff, the ailing animals of farmers had to wait for many hours for veterinary staff. "I am waiting here for the last one and half hour for doctor and facing many problems due to lack of staff" said a farmer Balwant Singh.
It is pertinent to mention that veterinary hospitals are meant for providing healthcare facilities to the cattle, so that farmers do not get affected by disease occurring to cattle. Besides this veterinary department also introduces new species of cow and buffaloes for yielding high quantity of milk. But worthless to mention that animal husbandry department and its authorities seems to be in deep slumber. When will wakeup to the rescue of poor farmers only all mighty knows.
