No entry for Mehbooba in Saida Kadal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 17: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti today faced wrath of the people at Saida Kadal in down town Srinagar where she had gone to express sympathy with the family of Tufail Ahmad. Tufail was killed in police action last week. According to reports, as soon as Mahbooba's cavalcade reached Saida Kadal, people raised slogans against her. She was denied entry into the house of Tufail Ahmad by angry protesters. They accused her of doing politics on the graves of innocent people. The security men accompanying Mahbooba somehow managed to whisk her to safety. The PDP leader, however, seemed desperate to redeem her hurt self esteem. She rushed to Soura Medical Institute to enquire about the health of Altaf Ahmad Bungroo. Altaf was also injured in police action during demonstrations over Tufail's killing. Talking to a local news agency, Ghulam Qadir of Saida Kadal said: "We will not allow any mainstream politician to enter Tufail's house. They are responsible for the mess the state finds itself in. As far as Mahbooba is concerned, her crocodile tears have no meaning especially in Srinagar city", he said. The news agency managed a comment from Mahbooba Mufti. "It is unfortunate. Some enemies of PDP create problems for us in Srinagar", she said. She lashed out at National Conference government for "letting loose a reign of terror" in Kashmir. " This organization is playing with the sentiments of people", she said. Mahbooba urged the government to bear all the expenses incurred on the treatment of injured youth. Pertinent to mention, Mahbooba won acclaim especially in South Kashmir by expressing sympathy with the families of slain militants. her opponents would call her Rudhali of Kashmir.
