JURSEA, JJSF criticise roll back decision, allege VC’s failure | Entrance examination for PG courses | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 18: The decision of Jammu University authorities to withdraw entrance examination for admission to various Post Graduate courses continued to receive sharp criticism from student organisations and all stakeholders of the varsity. Jammu University Research Scholar Executive Association (JURSEA), Rakesh Chib, president JURSEA condemned the recent decisions university authorities including deferment of entrance examination for PG courses, lowering the eligibility criteria for admission in the B.Ed in private colleges and no entrance test (open admission) for BCA and BBA courses. “The University administration is compromising with the standards of education by lowering down the eligibility criteria for professional courses at behest of the “strong lobby of private colleges,” Chib told reporters here. Chib further alleged, “On one hand, Jammu University authority conduct the entrance test for the Ph.D and M.Phil courses so that student gets equal chances to peruse these courses and on the other, the decision to roll back the decision of conducting entrance test reflects the inability of the varsity administration.” The JURSEA also criticised the role of Dean Academic Affairs, Prof R D Sharma and questioned his working style. Meanwhile, Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) also took strong notice of JU authorities for their decision to roll back the entrance examination for PG classes. The activists of the Federation staged protest at Government Gandhi Memorial Science College and burnt the effigy of the Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Varun Sahni for his alleged failure to run the varsity effectively. Speaking on the occasion, Partap Singh Jamwal, state vice president JJSF said that the VC has failed in running JU in a peaceful and effective manner. He alleged that despite advance notification for entrance in PG courses the students had started preparations for examinations but the decision has subjected the students to several hardships. “Authorities are playing wit the sentiments of the students. The students would not tolerate this type of cruel joke with them,” he warned.
