JMC's on sanitary drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 18: The Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff conducted a drive against the selling of unstamped meat in the market. During the inspection of meat shops at Satwari, Gangyal, Kunjwani, Narwal and Panama Chowk the inspecting team imposed a fine of 2100 rupees on defaulters who were selling unstamped meat. The team also seized 10 kgs of polythene carry bags from the shops for which they were imposed a fine of Rs. 1490/-. In the course of its visit to the localities of Rehari, Ambphalla, New Plots, Janipur, Muthi, Jewel, Vikram Chowk, Railway Road, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Satwari, Nai Basti, Panama Chowk, Shivaji Chowk and Gandhi Nagar it lifted twenty-three stray animals and impounded them at Municipal Cattle Pound.A fine of Rs. 2360/- was realized from the owners of stray animals. Besides this, while further continuing the drive to implement the ban on the use of polythene carry bags, the Enforcement field staff led by Satish Khajuria, Chief Enforcement Officer along with police force inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Indira Chowk, K.C. Chowk, New Plots, Janipur and Bakshi Nagar. During the inspection the team seized about 10 kgs of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and others outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs. 4900/- was charged as fine from 26 defaulters on spot.
