EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 18: Busting a sex-racket, police today raided a whorehouse at Bilal Colony near Sunjawan and arrested five men and as many girls, besides a lady kingpin, from there.
When cops swooped in on the alleged bawdyhouse at about 2.30 pm, the accused were found in compromising position, police sources said. The arrested men were identified as Sandeep Magotra of Panjtirthi, Vijay Sharma of Shiv Nagar, Rajeev Kumar of Sunderbani, Rajouri, and Amit and Vishal, both residents of Himachal Pradesh.
A white Swift car (JK02AN-3443), which belonged to one of the accused, was also seized from outside the house of lewdness.
Two of the girls were from Himachal, one was from West Bengal and one each from Akhnoor and Nagrota. The woman, who ran the brothel, too hailed from Himachal Pradesh. She was also arrested, the sources added, saying she also offered 'paying guest' facility to some outside students.
She is mother of two and lives in the raided house along with her two children, who are studying here. Her husband lives in Himachal. One of the accused was said to be her son. Sources said that her husband is serving in Army, adding that the whole racket operated on cellphones.
The house in which the sex-racket was being run belongs to Mohammad Yousaf Bhat of Anantnag. At the time of the raid, he was not at home. Sources, however, said Bhat had left for Anantnag on May 29 last. It was yet to be known if he had the prior knowledge of the brothel being run in his house, the sources added.
The house was raided following repeated complaints by locals, the sources added. Sources said locals knew that the Himachal woman was running a sex-racket in the rented house. Customers came there on bikes and in cars, which they used to park short of the house or in nearby lanes and bylanes, the sources added, quoting locals.
A case under section under sections 345 and 7 of the Immoral Trafficking Act has been registered against the arrested persons in Police Station Trikuta Nagar.
Later in the evening, all the arrested persons were taken to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar for medical examination under tight security cover.
