RAJOURI, June 19: Tears rolled down her eyes in battalions when Praveen Akhtar today staged a protest outside SSP’s office here along with her five children. She threatened to poison self and her five children to death if her husband Kabir Hussain went ahead with his plans to live with Ruksana Kousar, a recipient of Kirti Chakra.” In case, I take my life and the lives of my children, my husband is to be held responsible for the deaths,” she asserted. Ruksana, who shot into national limelight for killing a Lashkar commander at Kalsian in Rajouri in September last year, is in news this time for her alleged decision to marry Kabir, who is a havaldar in J&K police. Kabir and Ruksana claimed to have married in a local court here last month. “Ruksana is a problem not only for me but for my children too,” Parveen said. As her husband wanted to live with Ruksana, he had been mentally torturing her and pressurising her to divorce him, she added. Praveen said Kabir had even offered to give her Rs 50,000 if she
divorced him.
With her parents sitting beside her, she said she was deadly against Kabir’s marriage with Ruksana from the very beginning. He married her in the court against her wishes, Praveen said.
Her father Ghulam Nabi said that they had come here to lodge protest and request the SSP to take action under law against Kabir.Repeated attempts to speak to Kabir proved futile.
