Havaldar killed in mine blast | | | JAMMU: An army havaldar was killed in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) at Mendhar in Poonch in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Official sources said havaldar Khem Vir Rai, son of Bapu Rai, of Maharashtra was killed in a powerful landmine explosion ahead of the forward Tain Post at Mendhar at about 6.30 am. The incident occured when he inadvertently stepped over the landmine, possibly drifted towards the outpost because of rains waters, the sources added. Sources said the havaldar was killed instantly. He hailed from Maharashtra. Meanwhile, two landmines exploded near the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch at about 5 am. There was, however, no loss of life or property in these explosions, the sources added
