Stop bloodshed of Srinagar youth: Karra tells Govt. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Strongly condemning the designed killing of Srinagar youth, senior PDP leader Tariq Hameed Karra today called for total dismantling of repression to prevent recurrence of such gory incidents. "It is an appalling scenario, where a callous Government instead of addressing the revulsion and disgust of Srinagar youth, is mercilessly spilling their blood to prove its might," Karra said in a statement. He said the government must without delay punish the culprits responsible for the killing of Inayat Khan, Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq, Tufail Matoo, Mohammad Rafiq Bangroo and Javaid Ahmad Malla so as to put an end to the reign of terror let loose by the police and security forces in the city. "The innocent blood spilling of the city youth must stop, sooner the better," he said and warned of disastrous consequences if the police and the security forces personnel responsible for these heinous crimes are not brought to book. Karra said the brewing anger and bitterness among the youth and the response of the trigger-happy security personnel to the new wave of peaceful protests is reminiscent of the situation that prevailed in the state in early nineties which led to the two-decade long phase of death and destruction. "If immediate steps are not taken to placate the fresh wave of anger brewing in the youth, the situation may again slide to the point of no return," he cautioned. "The youth of Srinagar must be having some just concerns like neglecting their grievances and their economic deprivations that need to be addressed," Karra said and added that the National Conference while exploiting the gullible residents of Srinagar city to the hilt for political gains has never bothered to address their political concerns, economic deprivation and social dispossession. He said the youth of Srinagar are now conscious of their rights and they can't be taken for granted. Karra expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families of Tufail Matoo, Rafiq Bangroo and Javaid Ahmad saying that no words of sympathy could console them in this hour of tragedy.
