Jammu, June 21: Leaders of all political parties are engaged in yes mastership towards Kashmiris for the last 63 years just to fulfill their personal interests. They had never shown concern for the welfare of people, result of which, Jammu has been victim of discrimination at the hands of Kashmiris continuously. Leela Karan Sharma, Convenor, Amarnath Yatra Sanghrash Samiti, which spearheaded 2008 agitation, expressed during face to face interaction with Early Times correspondent.
When asked regarding annual Amarnath yatra, Sharma ridiculed senior Hurriyat leader Ali Shah Geelani for his statement of reducing yatra period to 15 days.
Sharma said that he has nothing to do with these affairs as Kashmiri is a part of India and it the people of India, particularly Hindus who will decide whether the period should be increased or decreased. He informed that earlier Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage was being conducted twice in a year for only Navratras, which was extended to entire year. He suggested that due to unfavorable weather condition in Valley for few months of winter it is wise to stop pilgrimage for four or five months, but at the same time there should no prohibition on pilgrimage for the remaining six months.
He said that his organization is just waiting and watching as if state government takes any initiative to curtail the duration of pilgrimage, massive agitation would be launched.
He said whatsoever may be the situation in state and the country people cannot compromise over the matter of belief and faith. He regretted that government has imposed langer tax only to demoralize the volunteers who want serve the pilgrims of holy yatra. He suggested that tax should exempt in the interest of Hindu pilgrims.
Replying to question, Sharma said that contesting Parliamentary election was with a motive to show real picture of Jammu to India people. He said that representative from Jammu region have failed to do so due to their compulsion of appeasing their master in Valley. "Handful people claiming themselves representatives' people are misguiding centre government on one or the other pretext. Centre government, whosoever party it may be, should take hard steps to make the people understand that what is truth and what is possible on the land of India territory" Sharma.
Clearing illusion, Sharma informed that Chamber of Commerce and Industries and other establishment are ready to support his organization, whenever is needed. He said if Hindus will be forced to compromise over faith, they will not tolerate it at any cost. He said that people of Jammu love peace and progress but in the name of faith they are ready to kill or get killed, which demonstrated by people during 2008 agitation for Shri Amarnath land row.
