| RR jawan shoots himself | | | SRINAGAR: A havaldar of 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) today shot himself dead with his service weapon in a camp at Sogam in Kupwara, Kashmir. He was identified as Gulshan Kumar.
Soon after the incident, he was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police sources said.
After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the concerned RR authorities. It was, however, not immediately known why the soldier took this extreme step.
The trend of commiting suicide among security forces, engaged in counter insurgency operations, has not stopped even after the authorities introduced Art of Living and Yoga to help them to come out from the stress.
Family disputes were said to be the main reason for taking extreme step among the soldiers, the sources added
