Vakil asks CM to call all party meet
6/23/2010 12:09:06 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, June 22: "Jammu and Kashmir is passing through critical phase with almost routine reports of killings of innocent persons. Situation warrants calling an all party meet to discuss issues threadbare for arresting and stringently putting stop at increasing lawlessness in the state," said Congress MLC and senior leader Abdul Gani Vakil.
In a statement issued here today he urged young and dynamic Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to immediately call an all party meeting over the killings. "We eaxpect the Chief Minister to call meeting at the earliest. Situation cannot be allowed to deteriorate any further," added Vakil.
He reiterated that even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi would be worried on this state of affairs.
"They are eager to see Jammu and Kashmir coming up a fast, vibrant and economically self-sufficient model state of the country. It is painful to note that a few black sheep are trying to malign the image of entire army, police and CRPF," added Vakil. Making a mention of recent killings, Vakil expressed heartfelt condolences for the families of those killed in recent incidents of firing and said that government should take all stakeholders on board before deciding on any future course of action.
He stressed upon the Chief Minister to start a process of peaceful reconciliation and resolution of local issues.
"We cannot wait for situation to change with divine intervention. Steps have to be taken to identify black sheep working overnight against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his effective administration, which is getting patting for good work from New Delhi," Vakil commented.
Regarding the NC-Congress coalition, he said that relationship is getting stronger with each passing day.
"Blessings of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi are with young and dynamic Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. So, there is no threat to coalition and it will complete its six years tenure," said Vakil. He also asked Chief Minister to speed up action against land grabbers and corrupt MLAs, MLCs, Ministers and MPs.
