Azad 'using' cronies to spit venom against Soz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 22: Even as the Congress High Command has given cloud and clear indications that indiscipline and factionalism that has come to stay in J&K Congress would not be acceptable, it is far from being over, with party big wigs bent to keep it alive. According to sources, former Chief Minister of J&K and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is quite active in state politics for some time which he is luxuriously enjoying with frequent visits has done a meticulous exercise to collect almost all disgruntled elements in the State Congress and asked them to visit Delhi to say things that may not harm Soz, but will surely discredit him among the people of the State. It goes without saying that Azad is in fact desperate which he reflects in acts of such nervousness about the graph of popularity rising for the PCC Chief Prof. Saifuddin Soz. His acts also reflect he is flabbergasted about the current vibrant position of the Congress Party in the J&K State, especially in Kashmir Valley. All his acts that have become too conspicuous are sending wrong messages within the party cadres every passing day. One can appreciate a measured level of jealousy in politics, son of the soil, who is enjoying union ministry status out of jealousy has just gone berserk. Sources close to his coterie also say that since Azad has now nothing to say against Soz, he has asked his cronies to challenge the veracity of the record level of membership that Soz has achieved for the Party. However, party sources say such machinations and tactics would not give any devidends to him. The Congress President has come to know from several agencies that Soz had worked very hard and galvanized the Party cadres to obtain an unprecedented level of Party membership in the State. In their three minute meeting with the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, all that she asked Azad's 'cronies' was to go to Oscar Fernandes. Sources say that Azad is also well aware of the fact that public at large throughout J&K State have accepted the assertion of Prof. Soz that campaign for the Party membership had been organised in a transparent way and that the Congress Party has never been so vibrant as it is today. Therefore it is totally naïve and foolishness on part of Azad to say that a seven member junior lawyers group from Jammu led would bring credibility to what these disgruntled elements would report to Sonia Gandhi.
