Health department fails to provide better facilities to patients | | | early times report JAMMU, June 25: Notwithstanding the claims of health minister Sham Lal Sharma to improve healthcare facilities in the state, the health department has failed to come true to the expectations of the people. Despite hectic tours of the minister to even remote areas of the state, no marked improvement in healthcare has been witnessed.Apart from poor medical facilities to patients, lists of medicines available with the hospitals were not displayed GMC hospital, Gandhi Nagar hospital, SMGS hospital and other associated hospitals.In Ramban district hospital, there was shortage of medical and para-medical staff, besides equipments and other required infrastructure. The condition of primary health centres in Ramban was also pitiable as a result of which the people of far-flung hilly areas were virtually deprived of healthcare facilities. The Bhaderwah sub-district hospital was also faced with the staff shortage. Even the posts of anaesthician and pediatrician were lying vacant there.The condition of sub-district hospital, R S Pura, was also not good. When contacted, a health department official advised to post the grievances on health department's website- www.jkhealth.org. Director health services, Dr Jasbir Singh always avoids queries, saying "he is busy in a meeting".
