| Lal Singh convenes public darbar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, June 25: To listen to the problems of common masses at their door steps, Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh convened a public darbar at Mahanpur in tehsil Basohli of Kathua district.
The people from Mahanpur and adjoining areas projected various demands and problems of the area related to safe drinking water, un-interrupted power supply, better road connectivity and timely completion of development works.
The people of Mahanpur demanded early completion of Janj Ghar and accidental hospital being constructed in the area. They also demanded upgradation of Government Girls School, Mahanpur.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that he is committed for massive development of every vital sector in the area and central as well as state government have launched various schemes for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society and people should come forward to avail maximum benefits from these schemes. He disclosed that the Centre has passed a bill according to which within a radius of 5 km of the site of any hydroelectric project the people will get free electricity.
Referring to certain complaints about unsatisfactory pace of works being executed under Rajiv Gandhi Electrification scheme, he said that enquiry is being conducted into the matter.
