Social Welfare Directorate launches anti-drug campaign | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 25: Prior to observing International Anti Drugs day, a workshop was organized by Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu and Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses, a National NGO, in partnership with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India. Lighting the lamp, Director Social Welfare Jammu, Mahmud Rana congratulated the department and the NGO for organizing such kind of workshop to curb the menace of drug use. More than twenty-five representative from various NGOs participated in the workshop named Role of civil society and NGOs in drug prevention. Miss Anusuya Jamwal Asst. Director Social Welfare initiated the deliberations of the workshop with an introductory session. Pallavi Singh, Rahul, Dr. Om Kumar and Anusuya Jamwal were the resource persons Persons who delivered lectures on various aspects of drug addiction like global scenario, role of civil society in drug addiction prevention, addiction a disease, and various scheme of social welfare. Besides lectures, audio-visual aid was also used in the workshop to make the program more effective and instructive. Rakesh Kumar, Secretary, J&K Society for the Promotion of Youth & Masses, appealed the media person to join the drug abuse campaign. The Deputy Director exhorted the NGOs to come forward and work together with various agencies to make a drug free society. She concluded the workshop with a vote of thanks.
