| Abdul Gani of Punjab lifts Karua Kesari dangal title | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 25: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab lifted the 12th Annual Karua Kesari Dangal title. He defeated Ram Paul (Bholu) of Naresh Akhara Delhi in the main bout that lasted for 23 minutes at village Karua in tehsil and district Reasi. Dangal, wherein 47 fights took place, was organized by Karua Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Wrestler Abdul Gani received a handsome cash prize of Rs 7,000 in addition to traditional `Silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta' while runners-up Ram Paul got Rs 6,000 as cash prize money. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Reasi, Abdul Rashid was chief guest, who gave away prizes while president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Advocate Pawan Dev Singh was guest of honour.
In the second main bout Gurvinder of Garh Shanker in Punjab trounced a national bronze medalist, Dinesh of Akhara Naresh Delhi to receive cash prize of Rs 5,000. Runners-up, Dinesh got Rs 3,000. Third main bout was won by Puran Singh of Garh Shaner in Punjab beating Mohd Akram of Chouadi in Jammu.
The fourth main bout went in favour of wrestler Danesh of Delhi, who beat Gurpal of Amritsar while fifth bout was won by Romesh of Banaras outplaying Buta of Garh Shanker.
The organising and technical committee members who helped in the conduct of this dangal included former Sarpanch Ram Parkash (president), Subash Chander, Ram Dass, Bodh Raj, Baldev Raj (Naib Sarpanch), Hukam Chand Master, Banarasi Dasas Master, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd.), Allah Mai (Ranga), Vijay Singh (Biju), Master Ram Krishan (Retd.) and Rajinder Kumar.
