3 day long Sindhu Darshan festival culminates with Kailash Yatra

Leh, June 25: With the taking out of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra the three day long Sindhu Darshan culminates here today. Over 600 people drawn from different parts of Ladakh region participated in the Yatra which was taken out from Leh to Upshi near China border. The Yatra was organized by Himalayan Parivar and it was led by BJP National general Secretary J.P Nada. The main objective of taking out this Yatra is opening of Kailash Mansarovar road via Leh for pilgrimage, a Himalayan Parivar spokesman said. Besides the opening of road, the people also demand inclusion of Bodhi language in the 8th scheduled of the Indian Constitution, the spokesman added.
The three day Sindhu Darshan festival started on June 23 with the Yatris coming from other parts of the country given a tumultuous welcome in Leh. On June 24 main Sindhu Darshan function was held at the bank of river Sindh as per the traditional Bhodic and Hindu culture. Hundreds of people participated in the function in which former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundra Raje Sindhia was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion she said the Sindhu Darshan has led to the cultural exchange among the people of different regions in the country and it has led to the promotion of tourism in the region besides strengthening the national unity and integrity. The Sindhu Darshan Yatra has fostered the cultural bonds of Ladakh with the rest of the country, she added.
Later Mrs. Sindhia also laid the foundation stone of Sindhu Bhawan at the Bank of River Sindh in presence of many dignitaries and local people. Besides the people of Ladakh over 800 yatris drawn from different parts of the country participated in the 3 day long festival.
Among the other dignitaries the function was attended by Dhorje Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Leh, Togdan Rinpoche a religious leader of Ladakh and Inderesh Kumar, Member national working committee RSS.
A cultural programme was also held in Polo ground Leh in the evening in which the artists from Ladakh, chatisgarh and MP performed. Speaking on the occasion both Dhorje and Rinpoche said the Sindhu Darshan festival has boosted tourism and economy of Ladakh.
