Dalit villages along Kahara-Jai road neglected, alleges Dalit leader | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 26: President Dalit Sena J&K Anil Kumar Bhagat has appealed to Rahul Gandhi to stop Shri Suroori, J&K R&B minister and of Congress party from acting against the interests of the poor Dalits of village Surange and Kunthal of Tehsil Thatri, district Doda. He said Rahul Gandhi is sincerely working for the upliftment of Dalits I the country and should also be concerned with the Dalits of J&K State, He said that under pressure from certain vested interest, R&B Minister Saroori was deviating from norms while ordering survey of the portion of road from Halaran to Joura along Kahara-Jai road. Though road up to Halaran is already built and norms violated. But at least from Halaran to Joura the survey should be as per norms and Dalit villages of Suranga and Kunthal should not be put at disadvantage. He said tat according to a cabinet decision Chief Minister directed the Xen, R&B division Bhadarwah to conduct the survey on the said road. Recommendation was made for Kahara to Joura Kalan via Ranote, Halaran, Budhi, Joura Kalan, lower Shamdlian and Ghoru. The original survey by ERA was also exactly the same. But under pressures from vested interests survey was changed in a way that Dalit villages were ignored. Extra distance of 12 kms is an unnecessary burden on the state exchequer. He said that concerned MLC, Naresh Gupta had already requested R&B Minister that in public interests these two Dalit villages should become a beneficiary of government's planning. Bhagat said that the two mentioned village have also been neglected for electrification.
