Govt all set to post first batch of migrant teachers at tehsil hqs
6/26/2010 11:25:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, JUNE 26: The state Government has informed those Kashmiri migrant youths, who have been given jobs under the Prime Minister's employment package, that they could avail 21 days' time for joining the places of their posting in Kashmir. So far 1,500 out of the total of 3,000 youths have been issued appointment letters.
In this connection, the Minister for Revenue and Relief, Raman Bhalla, met the Education Minister, Peerzada Mohd.Syed and requested him that the pandit youth appointed as teachers be posted at tehsil headquarters.
In reply to a question, Bhalla said that some youth could be posted in schools located in areas where some Pandit families continued to live.
Bhalla said that he had initially decided to convene a meeting of commissioners and secretaries so that necessary instructions were issued to the concerned departments for posting the pandit youths in offices and schools at tehsil headquarters.
"I will be meeting concerned ministers and seek their cooperation in posting the pandit youths at tehsil and district headquarters," adding soon after the selection list of youths in the R&B department is issued, he will meet the Minister incharge so that no fresh appointee was posted in farflung areas of the valley.
In reply to another question, Bhalla said that he had suggested to over 4,440 Kashmiri Pandit families, who had given in writing that they were ready and willing to return to the valley to remain in touch with the Relief Commissioner because he would be finalising their return schedule for which necessary arrangements were to be made in Srinagar. He said first of all the Government would ensure return and settlement of the Pandit youths and after all the 3,000 youths joined the places of posting the Government will initiate measures for facilitating return of other families.
Bhalla, however, made it clear that the 3,000 posts reserved for the migrant youths were additional posts and hence nobody in the valley should have fears that they may lose
their jobs or find job avenues for them squeezed. The Minister said that the State Government had already requested the centre to agree on meeting the wage bill for another 3,000 posts that were to be reserved for the Pandit migrant youths. He explained that under the Prime Minister package 6,000 jobs were to be reserved for the
displaced youths, out of which the wage bill for 3,000 posts had to be met by the state Government. He stated that owing to financial difficulties and on account of constitutional restrictions the state Government conveyed its inability to fund the project.
The Minister hoped that the Prime Minister will concede "our demand".Bhalla said that those displaced youths who accepted jobs in Kashmir would be provided with transit accommodation and other facilities.
