Woman among 5 bootleggers arrested

JAMMU: The sleuth of Excise department today recovered 175 liters of illicit liquor and destroyed 750 kilograms lahan.
The team also seized five working stills, besides arresting atleast four bootleggers including a woman, during three days of consecutive raids at border district Rajouri.
Official reports said that on a specific input, a team of Excise department led by Inspector Bilal-a-Araipak under the supervision of ETO Rajouri-Poonch Afaz Ahmed conducted several raids at village Sagot, Sawa, Arge, Dalhori, Patha, Androla, and Palma areas.
During raids, the officials arrested four bootleggers identified as Som Raj son of Jia Lal of Dhangri, Bhushan Kumar son of Chat Ram of Sewa, Chander Parkash son of Jagdish Raj of Dhangri and Sambi Devi wife of Kamal Sharma of Sagot during the raids and recovered 175 liters of illicit liquor, 750 kilograms of lahan and five working stills recovered from the state land were destroyed on the spot.
The Excise department officials also educated people about the adverse effect of the illicit liquor and drugs.
