Except one mishap at Chandimarh, all reach destination safely
Car Racers tread Akbar's route

RAJOURI, June 26: It was a glittering movement when first ever Mughal Rally ran on historic Mughal Road which was once tread by great Mughal emperor Akbar. In the Rally a total of 28 Car Riders participated. Except an accident of one car and some fault in another, all reached the destination smoothly.
Heavy deployment of security forces was seen on the road from Baflias to Pir Ki Gali, the last point in Poonch district from where the rally entered into Kashmir Valley. Sunny Sidhu of Chandigarh was first to cross over to Valley from Pir Gali.
The area adjoining Mughal Road which was once a hot bed of militants was cool and calm with racers running their "flying" vehicles on extreme rough route.
Organized by Himalayan Motor Sports and sponsored by Tourism Department of J&K and Jammu & Kashmir Bank, race started from Hari Palace Jammu at 6 am in the morning in two categories. One extreme group of 10 male and a female racer while adventurous group of 17 cars participated in this first ever national level Mughal Rally event.
Though maximum car racers drove smoothly, a car bearing no 2 turned turtle near Chandimarh. The car was being driven by Suresh Rana and co-driver Vijay
Kumar. Both are however safe and out of danger.
Two more cars experienced machinery fault. The car which was being driven by Garv Kumar and Ashwani Kumar experienced machinery fault at Chata Pani. The same was rescued from the spot by recovery van of Army.
The only lady driving Car no 11 in extreme group namely Suchi Thakur of Dharamshala Himachal Pardesh faced a fault in Radiator of her car which started leaking from Chandimarh onwards and she was taking few minutes break to fill water after every 2 kilometers.
Despite rough and risky track, a total of 27 racers crossed Pir Ki Gali where administration of Shopian received them. Talking to media persons at Chata
Pani a car racer said that the rally was great experience for them and they would love to come every year on this route. "I am planning to come here with my family for few days", he said adding that they have received lot of love from the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile Himalayan Motor Sports had deputed 100 Assistant Clark of the Course (ACoC) and a Clark of the Course to monitor the trace. A heavy deployment of forces was seen on the road . Whereas all the local and civil traffic was completely jammed on the road. Only racer vehicles were allowed to run on the road.
Meanwhile Hindustan Construction Company which is constructing the road had installed their welcome banners on the road while local people also enjoyed and they were clapping when the cars were running in front of them.
