SRINAGAR, June 27: Beating the hosts, Jammu and Kashmir Police, local club from Kashmir, Iqbal Sports today made it to the final of ongoing 12th Martyrs' Memorial Football Tournament at Bakshi Stadium, here. Taking a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute of the first half through Gulzar, Iqbal Sports further improved the lead when Police goal-keeper, Riyaz committed a blunder. Misjudged the approaching attacker of Iqbal Sports as own defender, Police guard at the net passed the ball to facing Iqbal Sports forward to concede second goal of the match. The demoralizing act of the goal-keeper brought the entire Police team under pressure resulting into the hosts suffered a 2-0 defeat in the semi-finals. The unexpected entry of a local club into the final spread a wave of happiness among the fans, who, now look forward for an interesting final on June 30. Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, to be played tomorrow, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala shall meet J&K Forest at 3 pm at the same venue.
