Majalta, June 27: While conducting an extensive tour of Majalta area, R. S. Pathania, a noted lawyer and a prominent Youth Congress leader of the area has demanded setting up of fresh Municipal Committees at Majalta and Manwal.
He said that Majalta is Tehsil headquarter since a long time and, by merging adjoining areas of nearby villages, Kuarnoo, Sartari, Peuni, Kathil and Baryalta, a viable municipality could come up at Majalta. He also emphasized the setting up of a municipality at Manwal, an area that has lagged behind in development for want of adequate funds. Setting up of a municipality would hasten its development, he contended. Manwal is on the map of Archeological Survey of India (ASI). He has sought personal intervention of Chief Minister in fulfilling long pending demands of local people.
Pathania also sought upgrading of High Schools at Dhamma and Sehal as full-fledged higher secondary schools. He sought upgrading of old middle schools at Peuni, Jansal, Nakki and Baryalta as high schools.
He charged that less deserving schools have been upgraded on political considerations while the deserving ones have deliberately been left out thereby causing inconvenience to the local public and especially the student community.
Many prominent persons in the locality also addressed the gathering. |
