Kashmir on BJP's agenda, party to woo Muslims in valley. | | | ASHWANI EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 27: To checkmate its opponents who have been labeling it as a communal organisation, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has made a sudden shift in its policy by wooing the Muslim minorities in the state, especially in Kashmir valley. The state BJP leadership has been asked by the Party High Command to strengthen the party at grass root level in Kashmir valley by organizing public meetings in the length and breadth of the valley, the party sources said. This is the reason that after taking over the regions of the Party, BJP state President Shamsher Singh Manhas paid a week long visit of Kashmir valley and held public meetings in capital city of Srinagar- Badgam, Uri and Anatnag township with his Party Cadres . Manhas, the sources said, while apprising the policies and programmes of his Party to people in Kashmir valley is understood to have made it clear to them that BJP is not opposite to any sect or community and Party wants upliftment of all people irrespective of their religion, region and caste. Manhas said BJP believes in cultural nationalism and equitable development of all the three regions of the state. The Party sources said that BJP central leadership is of the opinion to rid Kashmir valley of present crisis and turmoil, the nationalist forces in the strife torn valley needed to be strengthened. This is the reason that Shayama Prasad Mukherjee Foundation convener and BJP MP Tarun Vijay visited Kashmir valley for over a week in May this year to placate Kashmiri Muslims. Vijay set all speculations to rest when he assigned the growing unemployment the main cause of present turmoil in Kashmir Valley. Vijay, while talking newsmen in Kashmir valley had made it clear that unemployment is the root cause of desperation among Kashmiri Youth and the same should be addressed immediately. Vijay, the sources said has also discussed this issue with party High Command also in union capital. To keep a constant touch with Kashmir and its people the BJP top leadership including its national Organisational General Secretary, Ram Lal and North Zone Organising secretary, Manohar lal also paid a visit to Kashmir valley this week and held the meetings with cross section of Party men there. The BJP leaders have urged its Party Cadres to bring more and more people in Party fold by apprising them of its policies and programmes. This was preceded by the visit of party National spokesman Prakash Javedkar to valley. Manhas the sources said will be personally visiting valley every month to boost the morale of its Party Cadres. Besides Kashmir Party is also concentrating on Ladakh and Manhas will likely visit valley early next month, the sources added.
