Guv undertakes a aerial survey of the Pahalgam-holy cave track

SRINAGAR, June 29: The Governor, N. N. Vohra, today undertook an extensive aerial reconnaissance of the Chandanwari-Sheshnag-Mahagunas Top-Panjtarni stretch of the Pahalgam-Holy Cave track and visited Nunwan, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panjtarni Camps and reviewed all the arrangements for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, scheduled to commence from July 1.
The Governor was accompanied by Raj Kumar Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
The Governor flew from Srinagar to Pahalgam-Panjtarni for an aerial reconnaissance of the track upto Panjtarni.. He spent over an hour to review the arrangements at the Panjtarni Camp. Thereafter, he reviewed the arrangements at Sheshnag.
At Chandanwari, the Governor, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, inaugurated a medical camp set up by the Bharat Seva Ashram Sangh for the pilgrims. He also had a round of Chandanwari to take stock of the Yatra-related arrangements on the ground.
At Sheshnag, the Governor spent time with the members of the two Mobile Rescue Teams (MRT), comprised by J&K Police personnel, each comprising 10 experienced and well-trained mountaineers, who will be stationed at Sheshnag and Poshpathri to assist Shri Amarnathji Yatris, particularly at the vulnerable portions of the track.
These MRT personnel, equipped with wireless sets and the required mountaineering equipment, would move every day at 4 a.m. from their respective locations towards the Mahagunas Top and convey the status of the track to Sheshnag and Panjtarni by around 6 a.m, facilitating a decision by the Camp Directors regarding the movement of the Yatris. These tTeams shall fix ropes along the critical stretches of the track between Sheshnag and Poshpathri today itself for ensuring the safety of the Yatris.
Later, the Governor went around the Nunwan Base Camp for nearly two hours for an indepth review of the logistical facilities and other arrangements positioned for ensuring a smooth pilgrimage. He interacted with the officers of the Shrine Board, District Administration, various agencies and the Government departments.
The Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Jai Pal Singh informed the Governor that all the required arrangements had been completed at this Base Camp as well as enroute the Holy Cave.
The Governor has been monitoring the Yatra arrangements on daily basis to ensure their completion within the envisaged time frame. In this connection, he has been making frequent visits to the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps, Camps on both the tracks, and reviewing the track clearance work and completion of all the arrangements within the fixed time schedules.
