PDP youth wing holds protest against price rise

Jammu, June 29: To lodge protest against unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities and failure of the State Government on all fronts, youth wing of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) organised protest demonstration. The protest demonstration was organized under the leadership of Varinder Singh Sonu, president youth wing Jammu urban and Jagjit Singh Jaggi, president youth wing Jammu rural in which large numbers of youth were present. The demonstration started from Rani Park and passed through different areas before culminating in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner where a rally was held. They also also submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. Addressing the workers, PDP youth wing leaders said that the State Government has failed on all fronts to mitigate miseries of the common masses. "Since January 5, 2009 when Omar Abdullah took over as Chief Minister of the State, problems of the common masses have been mounting due to indifferent and casual approach being adopted by the coalition to address the basic issues confronting the masses", they said and added that the state has been gripped with unprecedented crisis due to non availability of ration in the government runs depots, scarcity of drinking water in most parts of the state coupled with the severe power curtailments.
PDP youth wing leaders observed that the 18 months period of Omar Abdullah led regime was one of the worst period in the political history of the State as every section of the society was annoyed with the government. They demanded that the Government should some effective steps to check increasing prices in the essential commodities. Like other parties of the country, State Government should provide essential commodities on subsidised rates to the common people. Promin-ent among those who addressed the rally included Varinder Singh Sonu, Jagjit Singh Jaggi, Parvesh Bali, Dimple Kumar, Sunny Anand, Balbir Singh, Ashwani Kohli, Lucky Kumar, Atul Gupta, Sartaz Singh Ladda and Ajay Sharma.
