Amarnath Yatra on risk after Anantnag incident | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 29: As violent protesters today burnt ancient Shivalak temple near Janglat Mandi in Anantnag area of Kashmir valley, overall situation in the Valley has turned from bad to worse with fresh clashes between unruly mob and security personnel erupting in different parts. If sources are to be believed, the burning of a Hindu shrine in Anantnag district may put a cloud of uncertainty over the fate of annual Amarnath Yatra. After the attack on temple, it is apprehended that Amarnath yatra could be the next target of the trouble makers in valley, said sources. According to sources, the burning of an ancient temple in Kashmir would have ripple effect on Jammu people, who may also resort to violence in reaction to the Anantnag incident. Today's incident in valley could disturb the otherwise normal and peaceful situation here, said sources With Kashmir, which is already boiling and witnessing large scale violent incidents for nearly one month, the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start from tomorrow. Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) is closely monitoring the whole situation, said sources. As soon as this news reached Jammu, Sangharsh Samiti has put its entire cadre on high alert and all units of Samiti have been informed to be prepared for any kind of movement, the sources added However, later in the evening SAYSS called an emergency meeting of all its constituents and discussed the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley. "The representatives of all theconstituents of Sangarsh Samiti attended the meeting and expressed concern over prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley. It was unanimously decided that the Samiti would work in coordination with the state administration for smooth conduct of Amarnath pilgrimage," said sources, adding "We don't want to react the case of temple burning as it may create hurdles in conduct of smooth Yatra. If the administration fails to ensure fool proof security to the pilgrims, the Samiti would decide its future course of action thereafter."
