| Court awards life-imprisonment in murder case | | |

REASI, June 30: Principal Sessions Judge, Reasi, RK Wattal today awarded life-imprisonment to convict Suresh Kumar alias Moti s/o Kaka Ram r/o Dheerti Mora Akhar Tehsil Udhampur, who committed the murder of deceased Krishan Chand on old enmity. According to the prosecution case, on July 20, 2005, complainant Badri Nath presented a written application to Incharge Police Station, Katra in which it has been submitted that Suresh Kumar alias Moti, who is his neighbourer was enmity with the complainant since long. The accused many times threatened his son Krishan Chand to eliminate him. On July 20, 2005, at about 7:30 when his son Krishan Chand along with his grand son was coming from nearby shop after purchasing toffees for his kids and reached at some distance, the accused Moti was already waiting there with single barrel 12 Bore Gun in his hand and fired two shots at point blank range with the intention to kill the deceased and after killing the son of the complainant, the accused ran away. On this report, FIR was registered u/s 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act. Investigation commenced and after completion of the investigation presented challan in the Court of law.
Principal Sessions Judge, Reasi, RK Wattal after hearing all the counsels convicted the accused on June 29, 2010 after having been found guilty of commission of offence u/s 302 RPC and 5/27/30 Arms Act and awarded life-imprisonment u/s 302 RPC and five years u/s 5/27/30 Arms Act. --JNF
