KATHUA, June 30: The future of more than 10,000 students getting education in the Elementary Teaching Training Institute (ETT) recognized by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is at stake due to the degrading standards of education.
In district Kathua, as many as 98 ETT institutes are running and most of them have no proper staff, accommodation, and even the proper facilities to provide the students, while plundering huge money from the hapless students. Some people are making the mockery of the education by running the ETT institute in rice mills and any other deteriorating unsuitable buildings . Most of the ETT are preparing the false and fake attendance register while the student of their institute stay at home and they charge huge money from students.
Even various private schools are running both school and ETT institutes in single premises which is not authorized by the government as well as JKBOSE. As per rule, the government set the norms and constitute committee to prove the reorganization and after that report of the committee is to be produced before the JKBOSE for affiliation and then JKBOSE after scrutiny of the formalities become responsible to grant the provisional permission but the question is this how does it possible to run the ETT in Rice mills and in already running schools which are not as per set norms of the government.
When the ET correspondent contacted the Chairman JKBOSE Sh Desh Bandu Gupta , he also accepted the functioning of the various ETT in unacceptable and improper buildings like rice mills, and in many private schools and violating the norms set by the government and turned this noble service as fish trading. He also said that they were lacking proper part of monitoring these institutes but assured to look into the matter and get the system set rightly.
