NABARD CGM calls on Vohra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 30: The Chief General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), J&K Regional Office, Jammu, M.L. Sukhdeve, called on the Governor, N.N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today. The Governor discussed with Sukhdeve the overall scale and broad categorisation of various NABARD funded schemes in the state and the status of their implementation and the volume of financial support being extended by it for the promotion of agriculture development and rural prosperity in the State. The Governor emphasised that keeping in view the vast potential for promotion and diversification of agriculture and allied sectors. He said that there was an urgent need for significantly enhanced initiatives being taken by all the stakeholders to boost these sectors which shall, in turn, will promote the economy and generate employment avenues in the State. The Chief General Manager, NABARD, briefed the Governor about the functioning of the NABARD in the state and the funding being made available for various rural infrastructure development schemes. This was Sukhdeve's first meeting with the Governor after he took over his present assignment some months ago.
