Sumo driver held with charas, poppy straw | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 30: After a hot chase, a Tata Sumo driver was today arrested by police in the holy Katra town along with 1.7 kg charas and 500 grams poppy straw. The accused was identified as Kewal Krishan, son of Ram Prakash of Surinsar. Acting on a tip-off, a police party signalled a Tata Sumo (JK02AK/2937) outside a hotel at Katra in the afternoon. Ignoring the signal, driver Kewal Krishan, however, sped away. After a hot chase, the sumo was intercepted by the cops. Police sources said when police asked him if he was carrying contraband goods with him, he replied in the negative. The checking of sumo, however, led cops to the recovery of 1.7 kg charas and 500 grams poppy straw, the sources added. After the recovery of the contraband goods, he was arrested and booked under NDPS Act. The sumo was also seized. |
