CRPF jawan cremated with full state honour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 1: The mortal remains of son of the soil, CRPF jawan Tilak Raj, who attained martyrdom in Naryanpur area of Chattisgarh yesterday were consigned to flames at his native village in tehsil Billawar with full state honour hours after his body arrived here via Delhi. Tilak Raj, son of a temple priest in Billawar, was killed along with 26 other CRPF jawans by Maoists in an ambush in Naryanpur area of Chattisgarh. Soon after his body arrived here at Jammu airport senior CRPF officers including DIG CRPF Kulbir Singh, SP Airport security ML Mehra, SP South Rajeshwar and several other jawans paid homage to the CRPF jawan who sacrificed his life while on duty in Chattisgarh. After the brief ceremony, his mortal remains were sent to his native village in Billawar where he was cremated with full state honours. Senior district authorities, CRPF personnel and state police officers were present along with large number of villagers at the cremation ceremomy. Jugal Kishore, cousin of Tilak Raj who was present at the airport to receive the body of valiant soldier said that soon after the family members received the shocking news of Tilak's martyrdom the entire market in Billawar was closed down as a mark of respect to the son of the soil. He said Tilak joined CRPF in year 2004 and was posted in Ayodhya before joining his duty in Chattisgarh. He is the elder son of Shiv Temple priest Manohar Lal and his younger brother is an undergraduate student. Tilak, who got married about 18 months ago has left behind his pregnant wife, and ageing parents.
