Electrocution case: PDD asked to pay Rs 6 lacs compensation

Jammu, July 1: Justice JP Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Jammu Wing today in a petition filed by widow and other family members of one Abdul Aziz Wani, carpenter, who was electrocuted on May 22, 2006, has directed respondent to pay Rs 6 lacs to the petitioners along with interest @ 7.5% per annum from the date of filling of this petition till its realization within a period of three months. Justice JP Singh while awarding compensation after hearing counsels, has allowed the petition and observed that respondents are held liable to pay Rs 6 lacs to the petitioner as compensation in the following ratio, Haniefa Begum widow of the deceased Rs 4 lacs, Javid Ahmed 50,000, Mahajabeen 50,000, Samida 50,000 and Shahida 50,000/-. --JNF
