JURSEA demands improvement of education in Bishnah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT BISHNAH, July 1:- In a press conference held here, Kuldeep Raj Sharma Gen. Secretary, JURSEA and Chief Patron of Bishnah Students Welfare Forum flayed the State Higher Education Department for not sanctioning Science Stream for the Degree College Bishnah. He was chairing the press conference. He said that all degree colleges of the Jammu provinces had science stream but Bishnah College was the only exception. This was to the detriment of the student community of Bishnah. He also demanded the construction of a permanent building for the college, at present housed on the premises of the Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys). Apart from its negative impact, it disturbed normal functioning of the Higher Secondary School also. He stated that this degree college was opened two years ago but still it had no permanent building. The land for the college is already demarcated in the nearby village of Chak Avtara, but till date no initiative has been taken by the authorities to construct the College building. He said that he was disappointed with the MLA Bishnah for not taking serious interests in getting these two requirements fulfilled. He said absence of science stream was a big loss to the local student community. He stated that the Bishnah Govt. Higher Secondary School was established 30 years ago, but no effort has been made to upgrade it. A number of new subjects have been introduced in the state board curriculum, but not in this school. He demanded the introduction of new subjects like commerce, sociology, geography etc, which have vast job potential in civil services and other competitive exams. Present in this conference were Deepak Kumar, Mohinder Singh, Vivek, Sunil, Honey, Rakesh and Kuldeep Raj Sharma.
