JCUM for appointment of local academician as CU VC | | | Early Times Report Jammu , July 8: Jammu Central University Morcha (JCUM) held protest demonstration outside Divisional Commissioner, Jammu in a bid to remind the Centre Govt to appoint local academician as Vice-Chancellor Central University, Jammu. The Morcha also submitted memorandum to President Pratibha Singh Patil through Divisional Commissioner Jammu demanding local Vice Chancellor for CU-JU. The leaders of JCUM through memorandum said the Morcha demonstrated for democratic values for getting appointed local (Dogra) Vice-Chancellor for the New Jammu Central University, but no results till today, and rather disturbing reports were appearing in certain newspapers showing clearance to Prof Amitabh Mattoo's candidature as VC for new CU-J which instead of addressing the issues by paying heed to the popular sentiment of getting local VC. They said that contrary to Kashmir who is having all locals at important assignments including vice-chancellors of all universities, Jammu is deluged with outsiders including VCs of all existing universities as outsiders. "The other 15 Central Universities have started their functioning with local VC, by now we have failed to understand that why Jammu is always subjected to experiments and is made hub for outsiders after by passing, ignoring local sentiments", Morcha leaders mentioned The Morcha, however, appealed the President to intervene and appoint local academician as Vice Chancellor of Central Universityn Jammu forth with so that Jammu Central University started functioning. The leaders of PRM, JSM, DLF, SoS International, Sangram Sena, JJSF, SSJAC participated in protest under the banner of JCUM.
