Newly selected 40 PETs await appointment orders | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: DESPITE a lapse of five months, the newly selected 40 Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in Doda district are still vying for their appointment and government schools in the far-flung areas continue to suffer because of the deficiency of required staff. It is also seen that in many of the schools of the rural and hilly areas having deficiency of teaching staff, PETs were also used to teach students besides imparting physical education to them. ``Is this not the injustice with the poor students, who cannot afford to get enrolled in the costly private schools to get the quality education,'' questioned one of selected candidates on the condition of anonymity? When contacted with Director Youth service and sports Salaharwal, he stated that about the issue of issuing joining orders to 40 Physical Education Teachers, this will be done soon as the matter is under process and is delayed because of unfavourable conditions prevailing in Kashmir Valley. He also said that the department is very much concerned about the problems being faced by the selected candidates. Aggrieved candidates stated that they were deprived of the monetary benefits as they were not appointed and posted in any school to serve the society. They further said that it is just a mental harassment and authorities are silent about our future. Doda District Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) Dr Vimal Singh Manhas said that it is yet another example of state government's apathy towards underdeveloped areas. He also said that already our state is lagging behind in sports courtesy state government. And also state government is not seriously working for upliftment for sports facilities in the state. Delay in the issuing joining order is one such example.
