JKCA affairs turn murky, members point fingers at Chairman | Goni has become a political embarrassment for Farooq Abdullah' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 8: The ongoing tussle within Jammu Kashmir Cricket got murkier today with 25 members of working committee expressing their concern and opposition to alleged dictatorial attitude and manipulation of funds by chairman, Mohammad Aslam Goni. The JKCA having 65 working committee members has remained in the centre of controversies in recent past. The members made a fervent appeal to the president, Farooq Abdullah for his personal intervention into the matter and demanded holding of fresh elections in the association. "The affairs, activities and finance of JKCA are being run and conducted not at all by the working committee which is the only decision making authority. The entire working of the association is being and has been monopolized and manipulated by few persons headed by Aslam Goni," Rahul Bharti, one of the working committee members told reporters here. Flanked by other committee members, Bharti said, "As per the JKCA rules, there should be two meetings of working committee in one year but it is to utter dismay that not even a single meeting has been called since past one and half years. Even the Chairman, who is authorized to convene the meeting, has lost his authority to do so as his claim to continue as chairman JKCA is itself an issue." The members alleged that they have not been taken into confidence prior to any decision or activity. "The name sake cricket activities are being conducted to promote the political profile of Aslam Goni. Whatsoever is happening in JKCA in the name of running of the association is illegal and unaccountable." "The president has been misled by the chairman and he (Goni), in turn, has become a political embarrassment for Farooq Abdullah. The president should take serious note of the situation for saving the association from getting "soiled and spoiled," they maintained. The furious members alleged that the overnight shifting of Jammu office of JKCA from its existing accommodation at Rehari which had the acceptance of the working committee members earning commendation of Farooq Abdullah in previous working committee meetings They further alleged that they were not being deliberately invited to join and participate in Farooq Abdullah's "towering efforts" and exercise in seeking land for a cricket stadium in Sidhra.
