BJP Kissan Morcha president tours Kathua district | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 8: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Kissan Morcha State President Karan Singh toured rural parts of Kathua and Basohli to have an on the spot assessment of the problems being faced by the farmers in these areas. He also addressed meetings of the farmers at these places. Addressing a series of meetings during the tour, Karan Singh said that the farmers in Jammu province in particular are facing a lot of problems. He said every time they have to run from one place to other for seeds and fertilizers as the same are not available in time in the depots for which the government has given licences. BJP leader said the failure on part of the government to ensure adequate and regular supply of seeds and fertilizers in the depots delays the sowing of crops as a result of which the farmers are made to suffer. Karan Singh said that a farmer is totally dependent on the produce from the agricultural fields and many times he suffers crop losses due to natural calamities including floods, droughts and earth-quakes. But if during a particular season there are no such calamities, farmer hopes of good crop however non-availability of seeds and fertilizers fail the crops. BJP MLA from Basohli Jagdish Raj Sapolia also discussed the problems of farmers of his constituency with the Kissan Morcha president and briefed him about the efforts being made to ensure that the problems of farmers are mitigated. Kissan Morcha vice-president Rashpal Verma, General Secretary Capt Kasturi Lal Sharma, Treasurer Jagdish Pandey and District President Inderjit Sharma accompanied Karan Singh during his tour of the said areas. |
