People's cooperation imperative to achieve development: Sham

JAMMU, July 8: Various developmental projects are on anvil to ensure that people in all parts of the state have an access to all the basic amenities and it is imperative that citizens cooperate and play an active role in development of the state. This was stated by Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma while speaking at a public cum officer meeting conducted at Tehsil Akhnoor. He said that an informed and responsible citizenry is a valuable asset of any nation and developmental goals can be achieved by participation of the people at all fronts.
He also exhorted upon the officers and professionals like doctor and teacher to perform their duties with dedication and devotion taking it as a moral responsibility towards the betterment of the society.
Sham Lal said that in upcoming District Development Board meeting the demands of Tehsil Akhnoor will be projected for the development of the area. He said that coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah is keen to provide all basic facilities to the people of the State at their door steps.
Minister met various deputations and was apprised with the problems of the people. The minister gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers for immediate redressal of the various problems. At Akhnoor, the Minister also visited the Teacher Training Programme held at Government Higher Secondary School organized by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan SSA sponsored by DIET.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister said that these programmes play a vital role in keeping the teaching fraternity abreast with the latest methods of imparting quality education to the students. Earlier, the Minister visited the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu and enquired about the well being of the person who were injured during the firing across line of Control in Akhnoor Sector. Minister also took stock of the arrangements at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar and interacted with the pilgrims there, he asked the concerned officers to ensure adequate facilities for the comfortable stay of pilgrims.
