Pathak seeks special package for Ramnagar
7/8/2010 11:46:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Ramnagar, July : After conducting a tour of the area and addressing a largely attended public meeting at Ramnagar, R. S. Pathania, a lawyer and a prominent Youth Congress leader, has sought accelerating the pace of developmental in Ramnagar. He said that owing to administrative neglect and lack of proper political leadership, the area has not been able to develop and flourish properly despite the availability of human resource. In the areas of road connectivity, provision of drinking water, electricity, human and animal healthcare, development of agriculture, horticulture and sericulture, tourism promotion, educational facilities, etc. the area is far lagging behind. Pathania appealed the state government to sanction a special package for Ramnagar so as to properly develop this beautiful place as a model constituency. He demanded special bus service between Ramnagar and Chowki besides macadamisation and black-topping of Ramnagar to Ghordi, Chowki-Kotwalt road, Ramnagar to Sunetar road and Kulwanta to Garh Samna Banj roads. Local people present on the occasion also demanded connecting of Basantgarh-Khaned road to Macchedi-Lohai/Malhar in Kathua district and to start work on Dudu to Kailash road thereby create an effective road network for the people of three districts separated from one another by physical barriers. They also called for undertaking the upgrading-cum-widening of Ramnagar - Basantgarh road. The multi-crore project is learnt to be in final its stages and work on it is being allotted to E.R.A. He also sought extension of power supply and provision of drinking water for hitherto underprivileged parts of Ramnagar. He also demanded inclusion of parts of Ramnagar and Dudu-Basantgarh in the tourist map of the state. The scenic beauty of Basantgarh and Dudu marks the choicest of tourist hubs of the state. But lack of tourist infrastructure on the one hand and administrative indifference on the other played spoilsport with the area. Developing tourism in the area will not only advance development in the area but will also boost local employment opportunities for the local population. Commenting on P.B.A. engaged in two-lane track of Roun-Ramnagar road, he took note of sub-standard and snail-paced work, and sought a detailed fact-finding inquiry into the sorry state of affairs.
