JJSF demands insurance cover for college students | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 9: Jammu Joint Students' Federation (JJSF) has demanded life insurance cover for the students of various degree colleges. Addressing media persons here today, Partap Singh Jamwal (State Vice President, JJSF) said that keeping in view a recent incident where in two girls students of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar were hit by a speedy vehicle and both of them got killed. Partap Singh added similar other incidents occurred in various parts of city and other areas also in which students receive fatal injuries. JJSF leader demanded insurance cover for all the students at the time of admissions in colleges. He informed that JJSF leadership recently held a meeting with the principals of different government degree colleges and stressed upon them for insurance of the students. On their request some Principal of the Colleges initiated insurance for the students by charging Rs 40 to 50 from them whereas many other colleges have not yet started this policy. Jamwal further stressed upon the authorities to immediately implement this policy for each student of the state whether he/she is a student of a school or a colleges. Taking a serious note of the issue of private tuitions being given by government teachers, Jamwal said that even after a series of protest demonstrations held by JJSF, authorities were seen least concerned about the matter.
