Rs. 1.45 crore for development of Channi Himmat Colony | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 9 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has called upon the people of Housing Colony in Chain Himmat to extend their cooperation in the implementation of developmental schemes as their participation was imperative for effective and need-based development in the area adding that for this purpose Government had approved Rs. 1.45 crore for speedy development of the colony with all infrastructural facilities. Addressing a large gathering after laying the foundation for construction of deep drain, widening of causeway besides parking near cremation ground in Chhani Himmat, the minister said that these works would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 35 lakh by J&K Housing Board, Deputy Secretary, J&K Housing Board, Mr. Ram Paul, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, PHE and ERA accompanied the Minister. Mr. Bhalla said that coalition Government was committed to provide all infrastructural facilities to the people at their doorsteps including drinking water, parks, electricity, healthcare, education, drainage system and road connectivity. He asked the officers to personally monitor the quality of works and sought the cooperation of the people in ensuring the completion of the ongoing development projects within prescribed time. The Minister said that a comprehensive plan had been formulated for upgrading infrastructure of each colony in the State adding that Central Government had provided liberal funding for developing all outlaying areas of the State. At Ashok Nagar near Nai Basti, the Minister inspected 450 meter long link road macadamisation work for which Rs. 15 lakh were earmarked. He asked the R&B Department to complete it in double shifts so that the people do not face any inconvenience during monsoon rains. Responding to the public demand in Rani Talab, Lane No. 2, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to replace the damage water supply pipes and stop the seepage so that upgrading work could be started. At Chhani Himmat Sector-3, 4 and 7, the minister asked the floriculture department to immediately start the upgrading work of the parks, providing sprinkle fountain, pathways, illumination, irrigation and seating facilities to the morning and evening walkers. He said that Government had approved Rs. 75 lakh for this purpose. Regarding construction of Peer Baba lane in Sector-4 of Chhani Himmat, the Minister asked the J&K Housing Board authorities to prepare an estimate and submit the same for funding so that the work could be started. For construction rotary-cum-mullah opposite Nidesh Apartments, he asked the R&B department to prepare the detailed project report and submit the same for funding so that the work could be started soon for the convenience of visitors. Later, at Gujjar Basti in Balicharana, the Minister dedicated mini tube well, completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 75 lakh, to the people of Balacharana. He directed the PHE department to lay the water supply pipes in the uncovered areas of the Basti so that the people do not face scarcity of drinking water in summer season. |
