| Centre, state flayed for de lay in appointing CU VC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 9 : THE "People's Action & Public Accountability - PAPA" held an executive committee meeting of yesterday evening under the chairmanship of its President Mr Deep Singh.
The members criticizes both central and state governments for lacking a capacity of taking appropriate decisions with the result small issues prove painful for administration and innocent public as well.
Regarding the ongoing controversy of appointing the Vice- Chancellor of newly announced Central University, the Committee was of the opinion that central government was unnecessarily exploiting the issues by applying delay tactics. It was of the view that chapter of appointing Mr Amitabh Mattoo as VC should have been closed much earlier because of his unacceptability and the timely start of University's working. PAPA- NGO had already suggested the central government for an open selection of VC- central University except Mr Mattoo who they suggested could be given some other assignment and any person of Dogra identity could also be a part of the selection process.
As per PAPA, it was the only solution which would also help in avoiding any sort of crack among the involved sections of Jammu province.
Later, the members stated that ignorant part of the Chief Minister and the Congress high command over the non serious and corrupt working of different ministries (including the congress part) of the state was responsible to the present turmoil as instead of a constant seriousness towards the basic problems of the masses, preference was given to personal agendas.
PAPA appealed the Congress high command and the Chief Minister for a focus on timely & effective decisions in order to put the things on track. |
