Ajaz pleads hassle-free arrangements for Hajj | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT NEW DELHI, July 9: Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Ajaz Ahmad Khan today requested the centre for devising a special mechanism of issuing of special Hajj Passport for Hajj-2010 as normal verifications of antecedents and issuance of passports in the State takes little longer. He said that Hajj 2009 passed more or less satisfactorily yet we have some issues which need consideration for ensuring smooth, hassle-free Hajj-2010. Addressing the Hajj Conference, chaired by Minister for External Affairs, S M Krishna, the Minister said that till date only 5861 seats have been allocated for Jammu and Kashmir for Hajj-2010 as against about 23000 applications received by J&K State Hajj Committee. At least 2000 more seats be allocated to the State", the Minister pleaded. He also requested for increase in the quota for private tour operators. Ajaz pointed that it has been observed during previous years that very few or even no officer/official is selected for Hajj duties by the MEA, from amongst the officers/officials recommended by Jammu and Kashmir Government. |
